Friends across the Pacific since 1963. For more than 60 years, San Mateo, California and Toyonaka, Japan have shared a sister city friendship built on sports, music and student exchange. Our all-volunteer association sends young ambassadors overseas, hosts visiting families here at home, and keeps a baseball tradition that began in 1979 going strong.

COMING SOON: 2027 Baseball Exchange in Toyonaka, Japan

Every two years, a team of 11- and 12-year-olds from San Mateo plays an all-star team from Toyonaka, with the two cities taking turns as host.  Our San Mateo team travels to Toyonaka, October 2-10.
